The Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo was founded in 1964 by Agostino Orizio in honor of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and now it is one of the most important events devoted to the piano worldwide. For the past fifty years it has hosted the most famous soloists and orchestras in the wonderful setting of Brescia’s Teatro Grande and Bergamo’s Teatro Donizetti. One of its defining characteristics is a central theme that focuses variously on a composer, a cultural environment and a historical period.
